Matteo
Italy
Salve (Hello),
I'm Matteo, an italian 34 years old guy.
I live in the open countryside the little town of Savigliano, province of Cuneo. North-West of Italy, near the frontier with France (about 60km in the south of Torino, do you remember Torino 2006?)

I'm a trader, I have a shop (Il Cerchio blu) in my little town where I sell modelings and toys.
I have a lot of hobbies: I like Role Playing Games (ROBOTECH, G.U.R.P.S., The Lord of the Rings), the ROBOTECH epic saga (yes I know, it is a collage of three japanese series ;) ), Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings (book and film, plus The Hobbit), Wargames (I play and paint miniatures of WH40k, Warmachine & Hordes, The Lord of the Rings and Warhammer Ancient Battle).
I'm a member of the Italica Garrison an italian outpost of the 501st Legion, an international organization of Star Wars (Imperial) Costuming.
Actually Im looking to the medieval reenacting world too... with my knight hospitaller (see my costume in the Gallery).

Salve,

Current Residence: Savigliano (CN) ITALY
Favourite genre of music: Classical, Soundtracks from epic film/cartoon
Favourite style of art: Roman-Greek Art
Favourite cartoon character: Katsuhiko JiNNai, Cobra Commander

Pax Vobiscum Frater Sinister. Beautiful Hospitaller Equipment! If you're interested in some contact to other Hospitaller Reenactors, our group Comthurey Alpinum, based in Switzerland, would be happy to get in touch. We're reenacting the year 1180, a group of Hospitallers and some ordinary people.

Greetings from Switzerland, Daniel

Hi Meistel, nice to see there is a group of reenactors about XII century Hospitallers in swiss too. I live in piedmont region (north Italy), under the switzerland. I remember when I visited the castle of Bellinzona, during a medieval event, when my hospitaller costume was still not complete. I see you choice the white amalfitan cross with eight points for your hospitallers. Still nobody is sure of what type of cross was used in these times. Do you know about the two french reenacment groups that created some hospitallers? There is an italian group in Lucca too, they created late XIII hospitallers. Here in Asti (near where I live) there is still the hospitaller church done in the beginning of XII century, the Church of San Pientro in Consavia.

Hey!
Cool, thanks for your reply. Yeah, the Piemonte is not far away at all, our other hospitaller friends life up north germany and we're in touch with them too. Because there are lots of hospitaller groups, but not much good quality to be honest. We tried once to get in touch with the gerriers du moyen age (the french hospitallers) but that didn't work out in the end. They are very good too.

In fact, we have more evidence for the eight pointed cross for 1180 because of tombs and dedicated hospitaller churches around that time. But we left the exact form free for every brother, since there was no exact definition (the size was defined though) for 1180.

I'm not on Deviantart much (actually just because i found your picture on pinterest)... Do you want to stay in contact via email? Mine is daniel@danielseverin.com then i could maybe send you our new kitguide (unfortunately in german) which we just finished. We did an all new recherche of every source and also translated some of the original latin sources over again and came to some interesting new thoughts. We wanted to come beyond the standard Osprey-Hospitaller style because we were not sure about some details, and i'm pretty sure we were right. Nothing ground braking to be honest, but still some more clarity for us.
We're now working on the new hospitaller equipment after finishing the kitguide, what you see on images is mostly the old stuff (we also rework the whole surgial equipment, that is too chunky for serious surgeries).
Sadly our website is broken at the time (server broke down we have to build it all over again), thats why you can't see much. Here are some of our latest events:

I once have to come to Asti to see the church... last hospital i saw was the one in Genua which was also built around 1180. Pretty nice place.

Greetings from Zurich

Ah probabilmente ti riferisci agli "Invicti Lupi".
